My receipt was:

vanilla 2.6.9 + acpi patches from acpi.sf.net + swsusp2 from
softwaresuspend.berlios.de + ALPS patch from the synaptics tarball. If
you search for my posts on this list you will also find some other
details.

Don't forget to disable framebuffer support(for resume) and APIC for
uni-processors (for shutdown).

These is mainly what you need to do. Not very much as you can see :-)
