I don't know exactly which parameters have to be tuned, but it should
work better. I mean, that if you touch inadvertedly the touchpad while
typing with your fingers, and if the duration of your touch is short,
your cursor will not jump into your text (to the corresponding and wrong
position of the touch) but stay at its current position ignoring your
touchpad touch.

Yes, this is the main reason why the Alps patch is not filed into the
kernel (Dmitry Torokhov told me that). Sometimes it works, sometimes
not.

What is the output of
cat /proc/acpi/sleep
Did you enable sofware_suspend?
