Did you unload evdev and psmouse before suspending to disk
When I used swsusp2 on 2.6.7 my hibernate.conf did have the line
UnloadModules psmouse evdev
LoadModules auto
and the touchpad recovered nicely.
Now, on 2.6.8 and 2.6.9, I only have evdev (I don't know where psmouse
is! But I don't need it because I am back to swsusp)
In order to have the Alps touchpad running under X with Synaptics you
should have the "eventn" when doing:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0010 Vendor=104d Product=0000 Version=0000
N: Name="Sony Vaio Jogdial"
P: Phys=
H: Handlers=mouse3 event6
B: EV=7
B: KEY=40000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=100
If you unload evdev, event6 will not appear.
And after resuming, if your evdev did not resume well the event will not
appear.
You must also have a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and you will see
something like if it is running :
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.13.5
(--) SynapticsMouse1 auto-dev sets device to /dev/input/event0
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event0"
(**) Option "SHMConfig" "on"

(**) Option "SendCoreEvents"

(II) Keyboard "Implicit Core Keyboard" handled by legacy driver
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "SynapticsMouse1" (type:

(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Mouse1" (type: MOUSE)
Synaptics DeviceInit called
SynapticsCtrl called.
(II) Mouse1: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded
Synaptics DeviceOn called
(--) SynapticsMouse1 ALPS touchpad found
My test for verifying that the Alps touchpad is running fine is to
scroll down a window by just sliding a finger on the extreme right of
the touchpad.
Cheers,
PS: All my tests on 2.6.9 are not done yet and will tell you more in the
future.
