make sure you don't have ehci-hcd loaded and you don't use framebuffer 
(CONFIG_FB is not set).
my ipw2200 suspends correctely, don't know about ipw2100. 

it works under X, the console does not work after resume. there is a tool 
called video_post to reenable it, but I didn't find/try it yet..
