I am running Fedora Core 3 on a Sony Z1A, with the stock 2.6.9 kernel and I
added the ipw2100 module and "video_post" utility.
S4 does not work, only because Fedora does not enable it in there kernel.
S3 does work, but there are some conditions:
1. dont use console framebuffer (i.e. dont add a vga=? option to
/boot/grub/menu.lst). Even if running X, if the laptop
was booted with a console framebuffer, it will not wakeup after S3.
2. unload USB modules. If not unloaded, laptop will not wakeup after S3
3. shutdown eth1 and unload ipw2100 module. If not unloaded, laptop will not
wakeup after S3
4. I also unload the sonypi module, and reload it after S3, since I dont
have the newest version (which is S3 safe). The laptop will wakeup
if sonypi is left loaded, but sonypi no longer works.
5. I seem to have to run video_post from the console, not X, so I do this
at the bottom of my suspend script:
chvt 1
echo -n "mem" > /sys/power/state
video_post
chvt 7
My guess about Ionut's better results (no need for video_post) is because
he has the 2.6.9 kernel with the ACPI patch?
