Hello everyone,

I have upgraded to kernel 2.6.11.2 and xorg 6.8.2 a few days ago and life
has become better since :
* Double tapping now works with the ALPS touchpad.
* When resuming from swsusp2, the touchpad behaves as expected
(with kernel 2.6.9 it used to become veeery very slow)
* Suspend to disk (swsusp2) and Suspend to RAM (S3) work.

Recipe:
* linux 2.6.11.2
+ software-suspend-2.1.8.2-for-2.6.11
+ ALPS patches (http://web.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/touchpad/2.6.11/)

* xorg 6.8.2 (Ubuntu.com)
+ synaptics 0.14

Debian users:
* xorg 6.8.2 can be installed from Ubuntu
-# add

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary main restricted universe
multiverse

to /etc/apt/sources.list

-# find out the list of X packages:

apt-cache showsrc xorg | sed -e '/Binary:/!d' -e 's/Binary: //' -e
's/, /\n/g' > xorg.packages

-# and install them

apt-get install -t hoary `cat xorg.packages`

you may have conflicts (libxaw*) for example. edit the file and
try again.

* synaptics 0.14 is not yet in Debian or Ubuntu, so I packaged it
myself:
deb http://www.pks.mpg.de/~george/debian unstable/

Have a nice day!
Ionut
