Which video card do you have?
If you have a radeon you need the so called "radeontool".
And then just type radeontool for help and something like
"radeontool dac on"
and/or radeon light off to shut the LCD.
Then you probably also need to configure xorg.conf in order to get the
correct resolutions on your CRT (if it is not a clone of the LCD).
I still like the CTRL_ALTFn+ or - to increase or decrease the resolution
of the LCD/CRT pair.
Here is the result of xrandr corresponding to my xorg.conf:
$ xrandr
SZ: Pixels Physical Refresh
0 1400 x 1050 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
*1 1280 x 1024 ( 474mm x 356mm ) *60
2 1280 x 960 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
3 1152 x 864 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
4 1024 x 768 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
5 800 x 600 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
6 640 x 480 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
7 1024 x 480 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
8 768 x 576 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
9 640 x 350 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
10 640 x 400 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
11 720 x 400 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
12 832 x 624 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
13 1152 x 768 ( 474mm x 356mm ) 60
14 1400 x 1050 ( 518mm x 365mm ) 60
Current rotation - normal
Current reflection - none
Rotations possible - normal
Reflections possible - none
And for example my LCD is 0 (1400x1050) when I am undocked. But right
now the laptop is plugged to its dock station and my external CRT is of
lower resolution (1280x1024). (And I think that 1280x1024 is not
accepted by my LCD).
- Then you need sonypid to have an event when Fn_F7 is pressed.
- And you need a script (like sonyxosd) to attach this event to
radeontool dac on && xrandr -s 4 (if you use a unique video projector,
but I prefer the CTL_ALT_Fn+ approach to xrandr).
But what I understand, is that your xorg.conf is probably not set with
enough possibilities. I give such a conf file on my site but some people
on this list are much more aware of what to do. Have a look at the
archives.
Cheers,
Nicolas
