Linux users of Sony Z1 series

Hy every body,

i have a sony vaio Z1 under DEBIAN Sarge with a custom kernel (2.6.7).
3 questions ;)

First, i read that i must have kernel 2.6.9 to use suspend to ram right? 
that's all?

Secondly, i want to use my mise as a ALPS/synaptics. What is the following to 
do this under kernel 2.6.9? what exactly patches must i use for a debian 
kernel 2.6.9 ?

And, what is the difference between ipw2100 and ipw2200 ? i currently use 
ipw2100 1.0 .. and i read today that ipw2200 work too under Z1 (??)
